Giants rumors: San Francisco not discussing trading Rafael Devers, other stars

The San Francisco Giants have endured a difficult season. The Giants could possibly look to trade some stars away before the deadline. According to MLB insider Robert Murray, however, that is unlikely to happen.“Rafael Devers, Willy Adames, Matt Chapman, the Giants have not internally discussed trading any of those players,” Murray said during an appearance on Foul Territory. “They want to continue to build around them. They want to continue to try to compete this season.”Many of the Giants stars have struggled. Devers is one of the best hitters in the game when he is going right, but the infielder has endured a challenging overall campaign. He is currently hitting just .247/.295/.395 across 43 games played.Trading Devers now may not be a good move regardless of whether or not they compete. His trade value will drastically increase if he bounces back at some point.Overall, the Giants are 18-25 and in fourth place in the National League West. They probably will not be able to realistically compete in the NL West in 2026 given the presences of the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, but San Francisco could potentially make a run at an NL Wild Card spot.The goal seems to be to compete this year. It is only May so there is no shortage of time to turn things around.
