Giant decision: Greene makes call to come back to Victoria

September 17, 2026 — 9:19amGiants captain Toby Greene has decided to join Geelong, ending his 15-year career with the expansion club.The unrestricted free agent will accept a three-year deal to play alongside his former teammate Jeremy Cameron at the Cats.Toby Greene has played his final game for GWS.Getty ImagesDeparting Giants CEO Dave Matthews revealed Greene’s decision on SEN on Thursday morning.“Toby Greene will move back to Victoria for family reasons and head to Geelong,” Matthews said.The Giants said in a statement that Greene’s decision to move to Victoria was for family reasons “with a view to join the Geelong Football Club”.“The club will make no further comment at this stage and will work with Toby and his manager regarding his availability to media,” the statement said.Greene has two scheduled speaking engagements in Geelong during grand final week.
