At the 2026 San Diego Comic Con Ghosts panel, where Screen Rant is in attendance, the series announced that former Superstore star Ben Feldman, who began a guest arc on the series during the show's fourth season, will get to expand Kyle's role in the coming season, which is set to air in early 2027 after the show's upcoming holiday specials. Feldman will become a series regular, bringing a different flair to Sam's (Rose McIver) story. Like Sam, Kyle has the power to see the ghosts of the series, and has brought in a much-needed counterpart for Sam throughout his time on the show. Acting as the "ghost babysitter" while Sam and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) are away from Woodstone Mansion, Kyle has been able to bridge the gap to keep the ghosts connected to the living world while Sam isn't around. Hilarious and fun to watch, Feldman's performance has been praised throughout his time on Ghosts, and seeing him become a regular was an expected step forward, hopefully deepening his character in Ghosts season 6. Ghosts season 5 left the fate of one of the show's long-running spirits up in the air, with Pete (Richie Moriarty) quite literally vanishing into thin air, but according to co-showrunner Joe Wiseman, "“we’re gonna find out what happens to him early in the season, but it's not going to be something that’s quickly resolved.” Pete's fate may not be dire, but it's clearly something that's going to weave through the bulk of the season as it resolves itself. Sadly, Ghosts season 6 won't return with the rest of the CBS 2026-2027 fall schedule, instead favoring a mid-season approach. With two holiday specials bringing the ghosts of Woodstone Mansion back to viewers earlier in the year, one for the Halloween season and one for Christmas, there won't be quite as long of a wait to see the spirits return as expected. Co-showrunner Joe Port explained that the Christmas special will be "inspired by Die Hard" while the Halloween special will see "Hetty's mustachioed sister Margaret" coming to the series. With Feldman's role being upped to a series regular and two specials in the works, CBS' Ghosts doesn't appear to be slowing down as it moves into its sixth season.
