| Freelance Soaps Reporter Published August 11, 2026 10:00pm There’s trouble ahead for George and Christina! (Picture: ITV) Coronation Street’s George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) is a universally loved Weatherfield figure. Warm, kind, caring and with an enormous heart, the cuddliest undertaker in the North West has won hearts all over since first stepping foot onto the cobbles. With his fatherly love for Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) and endless support as Todd navigated his hideous abuse ordeal at the hands of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), George further sealed his position as an utter hun. His other-half, though, Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), was pretty despised when she first rucked up as the devious, scheming and vicious mother of Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan). A scammer with a cold heart, it took a departure and a later return, followed by a union with George to soften people’s view of her, and, as it turned out, beneath her vitriolic earlier behaviour, she also possessed many hun-like qualities of her own! Seeds of doubt crept in, though, when Christina started receiving mystery phone calls, and it became clear that she was hiding something big, and George’s sister, Glenda (Jodie Prenger), was determined to get to the bottom of it. When Christina excused herself and snuck off to her car, Glenda struck, rifling through Christina’s bag and finding a credit card statement that seemingly belonged toMary Taylor (Patti Clare). George’s was even more confused when he discovered his missus down the precinct hugging a mystery man, Lenny (Joe Osbourne) and, upon confronting her, he learned the actual truth. Mary was furious to learn Christina had used her name to get hold of a credit card (Picture: ITV) Christina has an all-encompassing spending addiction and had set up a credit card in Lenny, her ex-husband’s, name. George’s mouth was left agape when she admitted to also using Mary and Glenda’s details to get hold of further credit cards. Though she came clean and even attended an addicts support group at the community centre, Todd soon learned that Christina still hadn’t managed to get a handle on her spending. Unfortunately, though, Todd tells George that Christina has continued to spend behind his back, leading him to tell her that she’s no longer welcome to join him and setting off alone. Attempting to drown her sorrows, she heads to the Rovers with Todd for a night out, though she eventually admits that she’s struggling to enjoy anything, wracked with worry that she’s permanently destroyed things between her and George Deals of the Day Parents can save up to 30% on Kickers school shoes ahead of the new term The back-to-school hack that's helping parents avoid queues and sold-out sizes Could your hair be wavy rather than straight?
