Published September 3, 2026 04:34 PM The Jets worked to bring in more experienced players after a young roster struggled in 2025 and three of those players were named team captains on Thursday. Quarterback Geno Smith, linebacker Demario Davis, and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will all selected by their teammates for the role. Right guard Joe Tippmann, defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, and kick returner Isaiah Williams are the other captains for this season. None of the three players who were captains in 2025 and remain with the team are returning to the role. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson is the most notable member of that group as he’s the team’s top target in the passing game and one of the longest-tenured players on the team. Those teams did not do much winning and the Jets will hope for better results under this year’s crop of captains.
