And the social media post has left furious fans in shock as they come to terms with the stunning plan to flog shares in the World Cup. In a tweet uploaded on the day of the Fifa election, Lineker said: “Have this weird feeling that Gianni Infantino will pull off his mask to reveal Sepp Blatter.” Football supporters have flooded online to claim Lineker had an accurate hunch. He reposted the BBC’s Instagram story and, alongside a vomiting emoji, commented: “Nothing surprises me any more.” Fifa have promised each of the 211 member associations windfalls of £30million if they back the controversial proposal to move commercial rights into a new entity. But Infantino has been facing fierce criticism since his outlandish plot came to light yesterday. And the FA are not supporting the move, with a statement reading: “We were completely unaware of this proposal and no substantive details, including what the proposition actually is and what conditions are attached.
