Garmin says its new Fenix 9 Pro smartwatch can run for almost 300 days on single charge

Garmin launches two smartwatches, Garmin Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro, which ship with a refined titanium design, longer battery life, solar charging and inReach satellite connectivity. Both of the watches ship with longer battery life, brighter displays and a more premium design to the lineup.The Fenix 9 Pro takes things a step further with a full titanium case and a thinner profile, while Garmin is also making inReach satellite connectivity and messaging available across the lineup for users who venture beyond cellular coverage.Both watches come in 43mm, 47mm and 51mm sizes, with AMOLED display options across the range. The larger models can also be configured with a power-efficient MiP display and integrated solar charging, with the Fenix 9 Pro Solar stretching to 291 days in battery-saver mode.Garmin Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro specs and featuresThe standard Fenix 9 offers up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode on the largest model, while the Fenix 9 Pro pushes that figure to 31 days with AMOLED and up to 57 days with solar charging.The Pro model is also the more premium of the two. It gets a full titanium case, compared with the fibre-reinforced polymer construction used partly on the standard Fenix 9. The Pro is also slightly thinner and comes with additional material and colour options. Both watches offer Garmin's outdoor and fitness features, including GPS navigation, health tracking, Garmin Pay and a range of sports modes. The Fenix 9 series also introduces Garmin Epic, which can combine multiple days of activities into a single adventure, bringing together photos, health information and performance data.The watches also get an upgraded LED flashlight with red, green and white light options, while Garmin continues to use its Elevate 5 sensor for heart-rate, blood oxygen and skin-temperature tracking, as well as ECG. The Fenix 9 Pro adds a MiP display with integrated solar cells on the 47mm and 51mm models. The 51mm solar version can reach up to 57 days of normal use and 291 days in battery-saver mode. The AMOLED display, meanwhile, can reach up to 3,000 nits.One of the biggest connectivity upgrades is inReach, which can be added to the watches with an integrated LTE modem and satellite connectivity. It supports satellite messaging and location features, allowing users to stay connected in places where mobile networks aren't available. A subscription is required to use these services.Garmin Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro price and availabilityThe Garmin Fenix 9 starts at $999.99 (around Rs 95,238), while the Fenix 9 Pro starts at $1,099 (roughly Rs 1,04,665).The Fenix 9 Pro AMOLED is available in 43mm and 47mm at $1,099, while the 47mm Solar model also costs $1,099. The larger 51mm version starts at $1,199 with either an AMOLED or solar-powered MiP display.Adding inReach connectivity costs another $100, with a separate subscription required for satellite services.
