Their X account accompanied a vid with the message: “Five time Champions League winner Gareth Bale caddying for Tom Lewis at the English Trophy”. Some fans took exception to their terminology, however, arguing that Bale pushing the cart rather than carrying it did not constitute proper caddying. One replied: “That’s hardly caddying is it”. And a second wrote: “Pushing a cart not caddying”. A third fumed: “Ffs he should be at least carrying the bag”. Others, however, pointed out how cool having such a superstar as caddie is. Lewis finished day one’s action two over par, projected to miss the cut. Bale famously enjoyed a round of golf during his footie career.
