Games Inbox: How excited are you for The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel?

The Elder Scrolls 6 now has a name (Bethesda) The Wednesday letters page wants to see more of The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel, as a reader is dubious about Godzilla: Destroy All Monster Melee Remastered. Games Inbox is a collection of our readers’ letters, comments, and opinions. To join in with the discussions yourself email gamecentral@metro.co.uk Inflection pointSo now we know the rumours are true and The Elder Scrolls 6 really is called Sentinel. It’s a cool name but that’s not even a teaser trailer, it’s just the logo for a name we already knew. If it gets unveiled properly at The Game Awards I won’t complain but it’s hard to get excited based on what we’ve seen this week. It’s also hard to get excited based on what Bethesda’s been like since the release of Skyrim, especially after Starfield. If that game had been by anyone other than Bethesda it would have been treated a lot more harshly. I hated it by the end, and I was so looking forward to it. Despite all that I still have faith that Sentinel can be their turnaround, that wins back the fans and the acclaim they used to have. It has to be really or Bethesda could end up being the next BioWare, and not in a good way.Kimble Anniversary giftI really hope The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel teaser means we get a proper look at it at The Game Awards next month, but something tells me we won’t. This teaser was only because of Bethesda’s 40th anniversary and is a bit too early to be a tease for next month. That’s my interpretation anyway. Want GTA 6 news? I’m not sure how long they’ve really had to work on it either. They might have announced it eight years ago, but everything suggests they only started working on it seriously in the last couple of years. I think they realise that need to make sure this one is perfect, after the disappointment of Starfield. Although I get the feeling Asha Sharma isn’t really interested in the game and just wants them to get past it and make the next Fallout. It is crazy how they’ve not been able to capitalise on the success of the Amazon show at all yet but unfortunately Bethesda are not the speediest of developers.Jagrus Paper tokenIt’s 75p to buy a map of GTA 6? Would it really have killed them to just put it in the physical box? I’d even have paid 75p extra to get it. Heck I probably would’ve paid a couple of quid, since I consider a physical map to be a key part of the GTA experience. Rockstar’s hatred for physical media has really soured me on them. It doesn’t matter in the long run but they way they’ve gone about it, instead of just letting things fade out naturally, has not been cool. I’m not going to pretend I won’t be getting the game because of it but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.Castle Email your comments to: gamecentral@metro.co.uk Never go backGodzilla: Destroy All Monster Melee got a remaster? Now that I did not see coming! Shame about the wacky unlocking system but it seems pretty cheap, so I’ll probably pick it up if I see it on sale. I remember playing that game on the GameCube and really enjoying it, but I can imagine it probably wasn’t all that good. Playing with a friend really elevates things but also you just kind of put up with less in those days. Nowadays everything so much better made, it does make me wonder if a lot of these remakes are worth it. I know Zelda: Ocarina Of Time is a full remake, so it’s not going to have the bad frame rate and clunky controls of the original, but that was just how it had to be back in the day. If you smooth all that out, I think probably lot of the personality is going to be taken with it. I’ve never been convinced that video game nostalgia makes all that much sense. For me video games are all about what’s new and what can be done with new technology. I guess that includes revamping old games, but I’d rather see it used for something completely new.Sumla Profitable saleSo Sony is trying to help a retailer make money from PlayStation 5s that aren’t being used. There is no point selling it to a shop, they will sell it £20-£30 cheaper than a brand new one, and make double profit on it. You’re better off selling it yourself. I sold my PlayStation 5 after I got a PS5 Pro and got £80 more than the trade-in, never mind cash. A shop like CeX made £18 million profit last year thanks to buying cheap and selling at double the price. I’ve never bought from CeX and never would. I’d rather buy from someone that’s paid out the money new, so they get a good price.David Formula for successI’m very much looking forward to the Zelda: Ocarina Of Time review; if there’s a nostalgia bandwagon for this one I’m definitely riding shotgun, with two days taken off work primarily to rattle on with it. On a different note, with Nintendo still to even reveal some big hitters, i.e. a new Mario or Zelda, I’m wondering if there is some serendipity at their HQ. It’s a bit of a reach, this one, but in a console’s cycle I’d imagine that more games + early = good. Whereas Nintendo may be, deliberately or not, heading into a situation of great games + late = fantastic (although I’d qualify that as a Nintendo perspective and not a consumer). My half-baked reasoning is the possibility that it extends the console’s lifespan out beyond the foreseeable memory/price crunch all the manufacturers are going through. Their competition seems to have decided that new hardware is a solution to their woes but I’m not convinced that in a time of threadbare pockets, empty wallets, and draughty bank accounts that consumers can bear the brunt. Of course, Nintendo still have to make the Switch 2 to grow, and that takes resources that they might not be in control of, but, surely, for all of the manufacturers, strength of software drives consumption?Shambling Reg Remake overloadI’m not sure I really see the point of these Persona remakes. None of them are connected in terms of characters or story (except 2), so it’s not like they’re leading into each other or you need to have played one to explain another. Wouldn’t it be better to put all that effort into just making a new game? It’d be the same difference to someone that hadn’t played the original. Besides, at the speed they’re putting these out they’ll have them done before Persona 6 is even out!YugoPS: Which old school Persona was it that had Hitler as an enemy? Can’t wait to see how they handle that. GC: That would be Persona 2: Innocent Sin (the first one of the pair). Don't miss Gaming news! Add us as a Preferred Source GameCentral has been delivering unique games news and reviews for over a decade Busy daySo today we’ve had two blockbuster announcements. The first is the announcement of the title for the next Elder Scrolls title. The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel. Though I will say it’s quaint to see Bethesda remember that the game exists, it would have been nice to see some footage of it. It’s been eight years since the first announcement and only a title confirmation is rather disappointing. We deserved more from Bethesda. Starfield was, in my book, my worst Bethesda game after I completed the story and it still is today. So I’m treating Sentinel with the deepest caution and highest scepticism. Bethesda need to absolutely lock in for their most treasured franchise. The second announcement is the revealing news that Grand Theft Auto 6 is 212GB in size. Pre-loading begins on November 10th and a physical/digital map will be available during launch. I’m absolutely securing a physical map, since a disc isn’t happening. It’s definitely a surprise to see the pre-load date being moved two days up. But it’s certainly unsurprising that it’s 212GB. We all expected it anyhow. Overall, it’s a very interesting time and with The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake releasing in two days and Phantom Blade Zero selling 4 million copies in only a few days it’s a very positive timeShahzaib Sadiq Inbox also-ransSo Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be called Sentinel.
