It seemed like the Game of Thrones franchise would have a difficult time continuing on television after the original series ended, both because of the divisive finale and because it was the biggest show in the world. However, Westeros has persisted partly by digging into the past and looking around for parts of the universe that are less explored. The latter is seen in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, while House of the Dragon represents a largely successful effort to dig into what came before. But there are still murmurs about a spinoff that would return the attention to the Thrones characters that viewers fell in love with in the first place, including an Arya-centric sequel. During an interview with The Guardian, timed with her role in Practical Magic 2, which releases in theaters on September 10, Williams briefly discusses the rumored Arya sequel and indicates that she doesn't know anything about it. She would have to be developed in some way because I feel like I’ve changed so much, and I feel like what people loved about Arya is that she was always a child doing things that were quite grownup.” The rumors of an Arya spinoff go back to a brief paragraph in a lengthy Game of Thrones feature from The Hollywood Reporter this past January. The section was largely focused on how the proposed Jon Snow sequel had failed to materialize. According to sources cited in the feature, one possible fix was to include another popular character, like Arya, to help get the project off the ground. Furthermore, all of these ideas are in fairly early development, with GoT creator George R. R. Martin declining to comment on any specific projects. But one Thrones movie, Aegon's Conquest, is confirmed to be picking up pace in development. Hailing from Andor writer Beau Williamson, it's centered on the ruler who first united the kingdoms of Westeros. It is not based on anyone from the core Game of Thrones cast, however, which insiders acknowledge is a tough task. Whether that's because of the original's towering legacy or its mixed ending, or, as Williams said, the fact that the beloved characters should evolve with their actors, it doesn't sound like the much-speculated Arya movie is a done deal.
