Game Of Thrones Meets Kingdom Come In New Free MMORPG

It isn't often that a game offers the same low-fantasy setting, grand scale, and warring factions as Game of Thrones, or the realism and vast world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. These kinds of experiences are few and far between, both owing to the fact that they're overly ambitious and led by dedicated creatives with a vision and the budget to back it, but fortunately, they do occasionally crawl out of the woodwork now and then. Such is the case with the latest game like Game of Thrones, or at least one that aims to capture its greatest elements and combine them with the aforementioned impressively ambitious elements of KCD. This massive title offers an experience that comes far closer to George R. R. Martin's work than even officially licensed GoT projects, a game that truly delivers on the scale that so few fantasy epics seem capable of delivering. So long as you don't mind playing with a few others, this MMORPG really could end up being the GoT game of your dreams. This MMORPG Comes Pretty Close To Replicating Game Of Thrones The dream of anyone who has watched or read Game of Thrones (and preferably loves video games) is to exist within its world, be immersed by its sweeping dunes, rolling hills, towering fortresses, and the cluttered streets of its most iconic cities. Despite the misery that often befalls its central cast, the horrors of war it so expertly depicts, and the poor living conditions its residents so frequently suffer through, the believability of its world, its engrossing prose and stunning cinematography, and its richly detailed worldbuilding all coalesce to create an atmosphere you can't help but want to exist within. Sadly, there are no games like Game of Thrones, with even its aforementioned licensed titles failing to truly encapsulate what makes the show and novels so utterly captivating. Well, that is, of course, aside from the topic of this discussion, the ultimate free Steam game like Game of Thrones that, at least in part, delivers upon the fantasy so expertly showcased in George R. R. Martin's work. The game in question is the MMO Gloria Victis: Medieval MMORPG, an epic, player-driven experience that facilitates castle conquering, role-playing, enormous battles, and so much more. Its diverse regions are forever at war with one another, a war propagated by the people playing, with each player tasked with conquering land, repelling attacks, and fortifying castles. Of course, between the wars and the faction tensions is a stunning land, one that adopts a low-fantasy medieval aesthetic that captures the sweeping natural landscapes of Kingdom Come with the fantastical, yet gritty elements of GoT. Here, players can roleplay, sustain the player-led economy, complete quests, or simply relax alone or with friends. Gloria Victis Offers Scale Like Few Other MMOs The scale of Gloria Victis is remarkably impressive, a triumphant achievement that is supported by its loyal fanbase. It is truly the game's best asset and the element that brings it so close to being the best game akin to Game of Thrones or indeed the enormous Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Indeed, it is the closest one will get to playing anything even remotely resembling KCD until the next Kingdom Come: Deliverance game is released, which, naturally, will be in quite some time. There are a few caveats to what is otherwise the dream MMO for many. The game originally released back in 2016 and was developed by Black Eye Games. It garnered critical and commercial success during its Early Access phase, and later went on to release in 1.0. The studio continued to support it for some time, but eventually succumbed to financial hardship and ultimately disbanded. The servers were shut down alongside its closure, but were, thankfully, resurrected at the start of 2026 by gamigo as a free-to-play experience. Gamigo has done an admirable job of getting the servers running again, but fans have reported that in the transition to free-to-play, the game has declined in quality somewhat, with its review score on Steam sadly being reduced to Mixed. There is still a phenomenal game in there, and gamigo is constantly updating the game, so one can hope it will be fixed soon. It is just worth keeping in mind, especially if one does end up wanting to invest in this otherwise phenomenal MMORPG that comes pretty close to being the Game of Thrones game we've always wanted.
