Sign in to your ScreenRant account Game of Thrones is getting endless spin-offs at the moment, so many, in fact, that one can hardly keep up with them all. It is, of course, hardly something worth complaining about, especially considering that, shy of a decade ago, we had little in the way of Game of Thrones media beyond the books and show. The abundance we find ourselves indulging in now, while perhaps not quite eliciting the same overwhelming sense of awe as the show shocked us with back in 2011, is a veritable platter of exciting delights that I, for one, am grateful exists. Joining this pantheon of Game of Thrones spin-offs is a new title, aptly called Masters of Intrigue. This new Game of Thrones game is sure to keep fans entertained as they await the upcoming House of the Dragon concluding season and the myriad of other projects rumored or confirmed to be in the works. At the very least, Masters of Intrigue should serve as a deceptively good time as friends and family quickly turn on one another to see who is audacious enough to claim the Iron Throne. Game of Thrones: Masters of Intrigue Is The Perfect Game of Deception Game of Thrones: Masters of Intrigue is a trick-talking game, not too dissimilar from the underrated House of the Dragon: Dark Dealings game. It sees players assume the role of strategists and schemers as they attempt to dethrone the King or Queen of Westeros and finally sit on the coveted Iron Throne. Each round, the allocated Hand of the King places a card on the table, which determines the lead house. The remaining players must then tactically opt to align or betray said House by either playing corresponding cards or cards from an opposing faction. Should there be more cards aligning with the lead house, then those who opted to ally themselves with them will get more points. Should the opposite happen, then the rebels get more points. You'll need to sweet-talk your way to victory as you determine exactly who will ally and who will rebel, and try to play them against one another. It obviously plays into the riveting political intrigue and endless backstabbing of Game of Thrones in a novel way that will have players second-guessing to the very last round. Masters of Intrigue has largely garnered positive reviews from fans, although it remains a relatively underrated experience, likely on account of its small scale. This isn't, after all, the massive Game of Thrones board game that adapts the grand strategy, epic battles, and politics of the novels. However, that shouldn't deter you from getting it if social deduction games tend to be your game of choice, as, while fairly simple, Game of Thrones: Masters of Intrigue can often be a riotously good time. Game of Thrones: Masters of Intrigue Is Available Now Image Credit: Resurrection Games Game of Thrones: Masters of Intrigue is actually available right now and is a relatively affordable experience, especially if bought secondhand. It launched back in June 2026 to a surprising lack of fanfare, scoring a respectable 7.5 on BoardGameGeek from user ratings. It falling a little under the radar, fortunately, means that there are plenty of used copies floating around fetching a much lower price than RRP. However, if you did want to buy it brand-new, then you can do so from various retailers and Resurrection Games' official website for $24.95. Masters of Intrigue won't disappoint at full price, although unless trick-talking games tend to be a staple during your game nights, it's probably a game you can wait for a sale on or pick up secondhand at an opportune moment. It is great to see Game of Thrones' spin-off projects embrace all forms of existing game types while adding their own unique and flavorful spin on things, especially as it means that fans of the show and books, like myself, have even more experiences to immerse ourselves in. If you're a Game of Thrones fan and figure you have a propensity for lying, then do yourself a favor and grab Masters of Intrigue.
