Full list of UK pub chains shutting venues this year with some vanishing for good – as Beefeater confirms closing date

SEVERAL pub chains have announced they will be shutting down venues for good this year, with some set to vanish from the high street forever. This week, Beefeater confirmed the closure date for all 106 of its restaurants, in what will be the end of the road for the chain. Pubs have been struggling in recent years as they’re hit by a perfect storm of higher National Insurance and minimum wage, alcohol duty hikes, higher business rates and a drop in football. If you’re wondering what other chains are shutting the doors of some pubs this year, here’s the full list: Beefeater Beefeater is set to vanish for good from the UK from September 10, when it will close all 106 of its sites. The mass closures come as part of a restructuring by parent company Whitbread. A massive 3,800 job roles are expected to be wiped as part of the cull. Back in April, Whitbread boss Dominic Paul said the firm was forced into the desperate overhaul “in light of significant cost increases” sparked by then Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ hike in National Insurance and business rates. Brewers Fayre Another Whitbread-owned chain vanishing for good this year is Brewers Fayre. Most read in Money The family-friendly pubs will also shut their doors in early September. However, some other closed Beefeater and Brewers Fayre pubs have been snapped up to become Wetherspoons. Whitbread has also confirmed that some abandoned pubs will be transformed into Premier Inn hotels. Bar + Block steakhouses, which are also owned by the company, will also vanish as part of the restructure. Brewdog The craft beer giant announced back in the spring it will be closing 38 of its 60 venues, with hundreds of jobs being lost. Brewdog was sold to US cannabis and drinks firm Tilray Brands in March for the cut price of £33million in a rescue deal The 38 venues that were unable to be saved as part of the deal have since closed, with 484 staff being made redundant. The Revel Collective (Revolution Bars) The owner of once-popular Revolution bars announced the closure of 21 venues back in January this year, with over 590 jobs lost. The Revel Collective, which runs venues under the Revolucion de Cuba and Peach Pubs brands, appointed administrators after struggling for years. Administrators said 14 Revolution Bars venues, six Revolucion de Cuba sites and one pub under its Peach Pubs division would be shut. It came after 36 Revolution Bars were forced to close last year after the High Court approved a restructuring plan for the business. Comment now
