Full list of passport travel advice from TUI, Jet2, easyJet, Ryanair and British Airways

WE ALL love going on holiday, but something you’ve been looking forward to for months can soon turn into a nightmare when you make a passport mistake. These range from not having enough pages left in them to confusing expiry dates that have already stopped hundreds of Brits from boarding their flight. EasyJet easyJet states that you need identification for all international flights Credit: Getty Identification is needed for all international flights with easyJet, which can either be a valid EU/EEA/Swiss National Identity card or Passport. And if required, a valid visa. Read more on travel inspo You must bring the physical ID with you, as digital copies will not be accepted. Digital IDs will only be accepted on domestic flights. EasyJet states: “Your passport needs to be in good condition and signed. UK passports issued after March 2020 may not be printed with a signature and anyone aged 12 and over must sign their passport to make sure it’s valid for travel. “Some countries require that passports are valid for a minimum period beyond your trip, usually three or six months. Most read in Travel “Please check your passport’s expiry and issue date before you travel. “If you’re a UK passport holder travelling to the EU (except Ireland), or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, the Vatican City or Switzerland, your passport will need to meet the following criteria: It must be valid for at least three months after the day you plan to depart from the EU or above countries. It must be no more than 10 years’ old on the date of travel to the EU or above countries.” Ryanair Ryanair only accepts valid passports or National Identity Cards Credit: Getty For Ryanair, you must have a valid passport or National Identity Card as your travel ID – so it cannot be a driver’s license or birth certificate. Documents will be checked at the desk and the airline warns that there are different rules for different destinations, so travellers should be aware of these for their specific destination before they travel. Other documents, such as visas, can be uploaded to the airline’s app. Jet2 Jet2 has a tool on its website to check passport conditions for different countries Credit: Alamy Jet2 states that most EU countries require UK passports to be less than 10 years old, and also valid for three months after you come back from your holiday. It adds that to enter Turkey, “your passport must be valid for at least 150 days from the date you arrive and there should be a full blank page for the entry and exit stamps”. If you head to the Jet2 website, there is a handy tool that allows you to click on your destination and then it will tell you the entry requirements for that destination. TUI TUI has a tool for you to check your passport validity Credit: Alamy TUI‘s passport advice states: “The required passport validity depends on your destination country. “For EU and Schengen zone countries your passport must: Not be older than 10 years on the day you enter your holiday destination (check the ‘date of issue’) Have at least 3 months validity remaining on the day you leave your holiday destination (check the ‘expiry date’) “For non-EU and Schengen zone destinations: Requirements vary and can require up to 6 months validity Check the FCDO Travel Advice website for specific country requirement.” The airline’s website also has a tool to check if your passport is valid for EU and Schengen zone countries. British Airways British Airways warns that if your passport is not signed, you could be fined Credit: Getty For all international flights, British Airways requires your passport to be valid “for the required time after your planned return date”, which is often at least three or six months from the day you leave your destination. Travellers must also meet the specific passport validity requirements for their destination. British Airways adds that passports must be signed by the owner, if not you may be denied entry or fined in some countries. British Airways also states: “If you are not an EU national and wish to travel on an international flight to an EU member state (except Ireland) or any of the following Schengen zones — Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, or Vatican City — your passport must have been issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country. “Anywhere other than an EU member state (excluding Ireland) or one of the Schengen zones listed above, your passport must meet the entry requirements of the destination country. “Children need their own passports to travel internationally, including infants under two. “Infant and children’s passports are only valid for five years, so please check the expiry date before departure.” Comment now
