(Credits: EPA) Londoners have been urged to check before they travel this weekend as multiple Tube lines face partial closures. The Piccadilly line faces a partial closure from Saturday until Sunday, so anyone travelling to Heathrow Airport may want to rely on the Elizabeth line, which is expected to run smoothly over the weekend. Meanwhile, the District, DLR and London Overground lines also face disruption. So which Tube lines are facing disruption and how will it affect you this weekend? A large chunk of the District line will be closed on both days this weekend. (Credits: Getty Images) Saturday, September 19 Today, several lines across the London Underground are undergoing planned engineering and upgrade works: District line There will be no service between Earl’s Court and Ealing Broadway, and between Earl’s Court and Richmond. Piccadilly line The Piccadilly line is facing more disruption this month as the line running between Hyde Park Corner and Acton Town will be closed from 1.30am this morning through to the end of day on Sunday. The closure will also affect the Night Tube service tonight. Why does the Piccadilly line keep shutting? The Piccadilly line has been facing particular disruption over the last few months. (Credits: Getty Images) If you rely on the Piccadilly line to get around the capital, you may have noticed the Tube line closing frequently over the last few months. Unfortunately, we’ve got several more weeks of closures, all the way through to late November this year. The Piccadilly line, which sees 158,000,000 trips annually, will face disruption on the following dates: Saturday, September 19 – Sunday, September 20: No service between Hyde Park Corner and Acton Town. Friday, September 25: No service between Cockfosters and Acton Town. Saturday, September 26 – Sunday, September 27: No service between Cockfosters and Uxbridge. Friday, October 16 – Sunday, October 18: No service between Hammersmith and Heathrow and Uxbridge. Wednesday, October 28 – Friday, October 30: No service between Cockfosters and Uxbridge. Friday, October 30 – Sunday, November 1: No service on the entire line Friday, November 20 – Sunday, November 22: No service between Hammersmith and Heathrow and Uxbridge. If you’re wondering, Transport for London (TfL) keeps shutting down the line to prepare the Tube line for its new fleet of trains, which will feature walk-through carriages, air-conditioning, wider doors, and more. Latest London news London Overground There will be a partial closure on the Weaver line over the weekend, resulting in no service between Hackney Downs and Cheshunt/Enfield. The Windrush line between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction will also be closed on Saturday night from 11.30pm. There will be no westbound service between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction stations, and trains will be diverted to or from Battersea Park for connections to or from Clapham Junction. Waterloo & City As always, the Waterloo & City line will be closed for the entire weekend. DLR Multiple closures will plague the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) today, including between Lewisham and Stratford/Bank, Canning Town and Tower Gateway/Bank, and Stratford and Canary Wharf. London Overground’s Weaver, Windrush, and Lioness lines will see closures over the weekend. District line Like Saturday, there will be no service between Earl’s Court and Ealing Broadway and Richmond. Piccadilly line The Piccadilly line’s closure continues today, with no service between Hyde Park Corner and Acton Town. Waterloo & City The Waterloo & City line is closed for the weekend. London Overground The Lioness line will have no service between Willesden Junction and Watford Junction until 4.15pm. The Weaver line between Hackney Downs and Cheshunt/Enfield Town will have no service. There will be no service on the Windrush line between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction, with trains diverted to and from Battersea Park for connections to Clapham Junction. The Windrush line will also be closed between West Croydon and Sydenham until 8am. DLR Saturday’s closures on the DLR continue today. There will be no service between Lewisham and Stratford/Bank, Canning Town and Tower Gateway/Bank, and Stratford and Canary Wharf.
