BANKS are continuing to close branches across the UK, with another 19 due to shut their doors in September. Since the start of the year, 440 branches have closed, leading to disruption for some customers. This works out at a rate of around 53 closures each month. Several branches of RBS and Halifax have already closed in September, with another 19 shuttering for good this month, reported The Express. In addition to these closures, nearly 200 Halifax branches are due to rebrand as Lloyds branches by 2027. Jas Singh, the chief executive of consumer relationships at Lloyds Banking Group, said Halifax customers who are transferred to Lloyds will keep the same sort code and account number.
