The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced through its Public Relations Center (PRC) website that it had detained a Russian citizen in the Moscow region on suspicion of organizing the supply of weapons and military equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU).According to the statement published Thursday, “The Federal Security Service has detained a resident of Sevastopol, a Russian citizen born in 1979, suspected of committing treason in the Moscow region.”JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official.The 46-year-old man had established contact with an officer of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) via Telegram. Acting on instructions from his handler, he is said to have organized the smuggling of weapons for subsequent use in the area of the “special military operation” – the Russian term for the war in Ukraine.The FSB reported that following his arrest and subsequent search of “lock-up garages owned by the suspect full of evidence,” a criminal case had been opened against the detainee accusing him of “High Treason” as part of a conspiracy by an unidentified group of persons “smuggling of weapons and other military equipment.”On Sept. 9, FSB officers detained three Crimean residents suspected of forwarding data to the locations of military facilities on the peninsula of Ukrainian intelligence. It said the suspects had been communicating through a popular online dating site with an employee of the Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), who used a number of aliases.
