JAKARTA – The elderly man in the navy T-shirt had clearly come to Jakarta’s car-free day for Sunday morning exercise. But when he passed by a group of 20- and 30-somethings taking turns to leap over a rope of braided rubber bands on the Sudirman sidewalk, he stopped, watched and – after some encouragement – took a running start.The crowd cheered as he jumped, and soon he was followed by a small boy wearing a black baseball cap. The group gamely lowered the rope to ankle height for the boy’s attempt.
