Friday Recruiting Tidbits: LSU staff travels to see a 5-star (and more)

With the LSU Football staff on the road recruiting high school prospects around the country, a key stop in the Bayou State is now in the books. Ruston High scrimmaged Captain Shreve on Thursday night in North Louisiana, and nearly half the LSU Football coaching staff was there. LSU sent defensive coordinator Blake Baker and safeties coach Jake Olsen to see the guys on defense, which also hits on the two positions with 4-star Aidan Anding at safety and 4-star Shamar Evans at linebacker. On offense, LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr., running backs coach Kevin Smith and tight ends coach Joe Cox were all there to see the staff’s big recent addition in 5-star Ahmad Hudson, and it also gave Smith and the staff a chance to get an up close look at 4-star running back Dalen Powell after the Tigers offered him a verbal scholarship earlier this month. Here’s the rundown on each Ruston target that has an LSU offer from the staff: LSU has a commitment from Ruston High 5-star Ahmad Hudson, who is ranked as the No. 1 TE in the country for the current 2027 class. The Tigers also hold the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) lead for Ruston High 2027 safety prospect Jayden Anding, the younger brother of current LSU cornerback Aidan Anding. A week ago, the staff offered Ruston running back Dalen Powell, who is already a 4-star and Top 300 prospect on the Rivals Industry Rankings for next year. LSU’s staff also have an offer out to another Ruston 2028 prospect in 4-star linebacker Shamar Evans, who transferred in from Mississippi as a Top 150 prospect and No. 12 linebacker in the country for next recruiting cycle. With that many prospects being targeted by LSU, it was a massive showing from the staff. With the coaches having been on the road recruiting for a couple weeks now after spring practices wrapped up in Baton Rouge, this is the biggest group effort for one stop I’ve seen so far this offseason.
