Freyja

Good Food hat15/20Updated October 12, 2026,first published October 27, 2025A restaurant with many layers, set within a striking heritage building.A Nordic fine diner wrapped in neo-gothic architecture at the corporate end of town, Freyja is a bit of a riddle. Grand arched windows frame a room where dates and business meetings play out, flattered by soft lighting. Attentive staff guide tables through a menu that favours brevity over description.“Melon, rose, daikon, chilli, shiso” presents as a slender block of cured rockmelon topped with ruffles of salted daikon and a puddle of chill-laced oil. An off-piste vision of prosciutto and melon, it’s one of many dishes that spotlights vegetables pickled and preserved. A wedge of sugarloaf cabbage, charred yet al dente, finds seasonal harmony with celeriac and mushrooms – think of it as nature-bathing without leaving the city.Smoked milk ice-cream is a bold accessory for a bitter-edged chocolate tart and rhubarb compote, a fitting final act for a restaurant that defies easy categorisation.Must-order: Cocktails also harness the seasons. Try the Blomme, a mix of mezcal and syrup made from fresh summer plums.Good Food reviews are booked anonymously and paid independently.
