FREDDIE FLINTOFF’S son Rocky smashed his first professional century for Lancashire. And he did it off just 65 balls. As soon as the ball left his bat, he knew he had got the single he needed and clenched his feet in celebration. And as he reached the non-striker’s end, he jogged through in sheer delight. Rocky removed his helmet, bent over double with a double fist pump and then took in the brilliant reception from the crowd. And even the Somerset fans could not help but applaud his momentous achievement. Ironically, Flintoff’s superb innings and 214-run partnership with Keaton Jennings came to an end at the hands of a familiar name. But all of the reaction on social media was full of praise for Rocky. One cricket fan said: “A ridiculous talent! Rock star!” Another wrote: “Like father, like son.” A third added: “Andrew Flintoff will surely be one proud dad today. The Flintoff name returns to the headlines, but Rocky is writing his own story.” A fourth commented: “Feels like I’ve just watched the coming of age of this young lad.” And a final user joked: “Very impressive. Reminds me of someone. Can’t think who!” Rocky made his pro debut in 2024 aged 16 years and 113 days, breaking the record as Lancashire’s youngest player. He also became the youngest century-maker for both England Under-19s and the England Lions – the latter surpassing his dad’s record.
