Brighton stopper Carl Rushworth is now set to become the club’s fourth signing of the summer. The Telegraph have claimed that Coventry are on the verge of sealing a transfer for the star goalkeeper. Rushworth, 25, spent last season on loan at the Coventry Building Society Arena and kept 17 clean sheets in 46 league matches. The report has stated that a deal worth an initial £22.5m has been agreed between Coventry and Brighton. The deal will also include add-ons to take the total fee up towards £30m – dwarfing the fee for Amenda. Brighton have also included a sell-on clause and a buy-back clause for Rushworth. Rushworth joined the Brighton academy in 2019 and had five loan spells away from the club before his first move to Coventry. He never made a first-team appearance for the club. He had worked his way up the English football league with loans to Worthing, Walsall, Lincoln City, Swansea City and Hull City. Rushworth has once been capped by the England Under-21s. Coventry sealed their return to the Premier League after 25 years away by winning the Championship title last term. Lampard’s team walked the league as they accumulated 95 points – 11 points ahead of second-placed Ipswich Town.
