Four jailed after teen, 18, stabbed to death outside library in horror attack

FOUR teenagers have been jailed after an 18-year-old boy was stabbed to death outside a library. Michael’s twin brother has since paid a moving tribute on behalf of his family saying most people “won’t know what it is like to have a twin, but I do”. He added: “Michael was more than just a brother, he was my second half. “He aligned with everything that I liked. Words cannot express the pain we are all feeling right now. Our family will never be the same, but we hope you’re in a better place now.” After the attack a 19-year-old man was also taken to hospital with stab wounds after being found nearby. He was later arrested on suspicion of murder, said West Midlands Police. Det Supt Jim Munro, from the force’s homicide team, said at the time: “Michael’s family have been left devastated by his death, and our focus this evening is solely on getting answers for them and justice for Michael. “We’ve made good progress already by speaking to witnesses, recovering CCTV, and other enquiries, but we still really need the public’s help. “If you saw what happened, or you know why someone may wanted to have hurt Michael, please do the right thing for his family and let us know.” Det Insp Nigel Box, who led the investigation, said Michael’s death was a “tragic and senseless loss of life.” He added that his officers had worked “relentlessly” to identify the suspects and secure prosecutions. Box continued: “He was attacked by this group, two of whom pursued and cornered him next to the library before stabbing him. “The level of premeditation which went into the killing, along with the lengths the four defendants went to in order to avoid arrest, shows how deliberate and knowingly wrong their actions were.”
