Four charged with attempted murder after violence at Arsenal victory parade

Two teenagers and two men have been charged with attempted murder and are among the 29 arrests made by the police on May 31 in Islington. Another eight people have been charged with offences including grievious bodily harm, sexual assault, and assault on an emergency worker. Six people were stabbed amidst the celebrations, with Met officers also sustaining injuries in the fallout. Read MoreOne officer suffered a slash wound to the hand and another was hit on the head by an object thrown by the crowd, the force previously said.Four police vans were also left with broken lights and dents.It comes as the Met seek to speak with more people in connection to incidents at the paradeAFP/GettyThe Met is also appealing for more information regarding other incidents which happened on the day of the parade. “These incidents occurred on a day when fans should have been able to enjoy celebrations safely with family and friends,” Detective Chief Inspector Phil Coster, from the Metropolitan Police, said.“Instead, we saw a small number of individuals engage in behaviour that put others at risk.“More than 500 officers were deployed across the event alongside specialist search and drone teams.“Their presence helped ensure the vast majority of supporters were able to enjoy the celebrations safely.“While the event was largely safe and brought thousands of fans together to celebrate, we did see instances of disorder, anti-social behaviour and some violent incidents.“We are continuing to carry out inquiries to help progress our investigation and identify those responsible,” Mr Coster added.“If you recognise any of the men pictured, or have any information that could assist our investigation, please get in touch with us.”The Arsenal victory parade saw up to one million Arsenal fans line the streets around the Emirates Stadium in north London, celebrating the club’s Premier League win. The five-mile route saw Arsenal players parade around the stadium, chanting as the sky lit up in red.
