A 13-year-old student was found unconscious in the washroom of a private school in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut on Monday and was later declared dead by doctors, police said. The circumstances surrounding the student's death have raised questions, although cardiac arrest has been cited as a preliminary suspected cause.The Class 7 student, Kunal Sharma, went to school as usual on Monday and did not have any health difficulties, according to the family.After school ended, Kunal was expected to return home in an e-rickshaw along with other students. The driver waited outside the school for the children to come out. However, Kunal did not emerge even after the other students had left.After waiting for around 15 minutes, the driver entered the school premises to look for him. During the search, he found Kunal lying unconscious in the school washroom. He immediately informed the school management, following which teachers and the student's family were alerted. Kunal was rushed to a doctor, but he was declared dead on arrival.Police said cardiac arrest was being suspected as a preliminary cause of death, although the exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately clear. The student's family has reportedly declined to seek police action and has not submitted a complaint in connection with the death.Senior police officer Pankaj Lavania confirmed the student's death and said cardiac arrest was suspected to be the cause.
