A trip to Japan (Microsoft) Despite promises of a 2026 launch, Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 has been pushed back to next year according to a reliable leaker. Xbox’s pivot back to exclusive games has been muddled and baffling to say the least, but it’s also left some previously announced cross-platform titles in an awkward spot. Forza Horizon 6, in particular, has all but been forgotten by Microsoft, even though it’s their best seller. The acclaimed racer launched in May on Xbox Series X/S and PC, and it was confirmed it would arrive on PlayStation 5 later this year. However, months later, it still hasn’t received a concrete release date. Xbox’s shift back to exclusive games, starting with Gears Of War: E-Day, led to some wild speculation that the PlayStation 5 version had been cancelled, despite Microsoft’s assurances. However, a reliable leaker has now revealed it is still coming to Sony’s console, just not this year. This comes from billbil-kun (via Dealabs), who has an incredibly strong track record when it comes to leaking prices and release dates. According to the insider, Forza Horizon 6 will arrive on PlayStation 5 on January 26, 2027. Additionally, unlike the PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon 5, it will be released in digital and physical formats – complete with an actual disc – priced at £59.99. Want GTA 6 news? It’s unclear why Forza Horizon 6 has been pushed back to 2027. However, according to The Verge’s Tom Warren, who previously reported it had been delayed, it’s to align the PlayStation 5 version’s release date with the game’s first expansion. Billbil-kun claims an official announcement is expected this week, with pre-orders set to open immediately afterwards. This release date means developer Playground Games has two games releasing on PlayStation 5 in 2027. The upcoming reboot of Fable, also from the UK studio, is launching simultaneously across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 23, 2027. With Forza Horizon 6 locked in, January is now looking particularly busy. Metroid Ravenous and Until Dawn 2 launch a day later on January 28, while Stranger Than Heaven arrives earlier in the month on January 15. Earlier this week, Playground Games apologised to fans over its lack of communication with players, who have been worried about the lack of meaningful updates. ‘We’re reading all your comments about Forza Horizon 6, and we realise that we haven’t been talking with you as much as we could be,’ a statement from the studio reads. ‘While we continue to deliver regular content and fixes into the game, we want you to know we hear your feedback about our post-launch updates and we’re looking into future changes to both in-game content and the ways we communicate with you.
