AN ex-Crystal Palace star faces being ruled out of the entirety of the upcoming campaign after a horror injury in pre-season. Christantus Uche was playing for Getafe in a pre-season friendly against Monaco when the horrific accident occurred. Christantus Uche could be out for the season after a horror injury Credit: X Monaco man Christian Mawissa left a strong challenge on the Nigerian Credit: X Following the match, Getafe posted saying: “Following initial tests and a clinical examination conducted by the club’s medical services, Christantus Uche has a contusion of the kneecap of his right leg, caused by the blow he received during the match against AS Monaco.” However reports indicate it’s much worse than the club made out – he is said to have suffered multiple tears in his knee as a result of the foul. I haven’t been to the doctor yet, but my leg is being examined today. “I wasn’t feeling well yesterday and I twisted my knee – It’s like something out of a movie, but real. I hope it’s nothing serious.” The versatile forward spent last season in the Premier League under Oliver Glasner‘s Crystal Palace. Despite a £17.3million obligation to buy clause in his contract, the Nigerian had to make 10 Premier League starts in order for the clause to be triggered. French centre-back Christian Mawissa, who was sent off as a result of his challenge, was taking no prisoners as he flew into Uche with a high tackle. Uche, who had to be stretchered off following the challenge in the 78th minute, suffered a serious injury to his knee.
