Published: 07:32 EDT, 2 October 2026 | Updated: 07:32 EDT, 2 October 2026 A former police sergeant has appeared in court accused of trying to form ‘improper sexual or emotional’ relationships with eight women - including two colleagues and a victim of domestic abuse.Tarjinderjit Nizzer, who worked for Derbyshire Police, was charged last month with eight counts of misconduct in public office between January 2020 and November 2024.The charges followed an investigation by the force's Counter Corruption Unit, which received a referral in 2024.Nizzer, who resigned as a Neighbourhood Sergeant earlier this year, made a brief appearance at Nottingham Magistrates' Court today (FRI), where he spoke only to confirm his name, address and date and birth.The hearing was told it is alleged the 57-year-old contacted six members of the public and two serving police officers to instigate inappropriate ‘sexual or emotional relationships’ with them.It's claimed he asked one colleague to share her personal phone number with him, messaged her while she was on holiday, asked for texts while she was drunk, made sexual comments towards the officer, asked to see a tattoo on her leg and repeatedly asked her to meet him at the gym or to go for a coffee.He also allegedly 'provided favourable offers of support and assistance in connection with her duties'. Tarjinderjit Nizzer resigned as a Derbyshire Police Neighbourhood Sergeant earlier this year Nizzer, pictured outside Nottingham Magistrates' Court, will next appear before a judge on October 30 Nizzer is accused of sending unsolicited emails to another officer, providing his personal mobile number to her, arranging to meet her under false pretences, and making 'unwanted advances'.Other charges state he made inappropriate comments to a domestic abuse victim about her body, sent her messages and approached her in public; and called another woman his 'dream girl', as well as giving her money and asking for 'selfies' of her bottom.Nizzer is also charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, and computer misuse, in that he allegedly cancelled a traffic offence relating to the father of one of the women.No pleas were indicated, and Nizzer, of Derby, was released on unconditional bail to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on October 30.District Judge Sunil Khanna told Nizzer that nine of the 10 charges could only be heard at Crown Court, and that he would be expected to formally enter pleas at the next hearing.
