A disagreement about pre-match preparation, in which Townsend told Ranger he had a “stinker” in a recent game, sparked the conflict. Sign up for the Football newsletter Thank you! Ranger said: “‘I don’t know why he was coming at me. Take your anger out on someone else bro because I’m not the one. I’ll just knock you out and then it’s just long. “Anyway, we go down for food the next day and, you remember those old-school blue Lucozade bottles with the yellow top, he’s drinking from it and he’s spitting in my pasta. “I’m looking around at players and being like – are you witnessing this as well? This is crazy antics right now.” Ranger was not prepared to let his team-mate get off lightly, he said: “I can see Andros there, I’m on to Andros, and I’ve just crashed him. “His head hits the bin and man are trying to stop me, Kyle Walker trying to stop me, but the rage inside is just going mad, going berserk.” The clash with Townsend could be considered a tame disagreement in Ranger’s list of off-field mishaps.
