Former Michigan star Yaxel Lendeborg named NBA Summer League championship game MVP

Former Michigan star Yaxel Lendeborg was named the Las Vegas Summer League championship game MVP on Sunday night. He helped guide the Golden State Warriors to a 94-90 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Lendeborg was excellent even while battling foul trouble. He was the star in a game that included former Duke star Cameron Boozer, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. He also logged 10 rebounds, notching a double-double in the contest. The former Wolverines standout even chipped in a pair of assists and a pair of steals. That caps a strong summer for Lendeborg. In the previous five games in the NBA Summer League he had averaged 13.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He saw 27.5 minutes per game in the first five contests. Golden State will have to feel great about his performance. The Warriors selected Yaxel Lendeborg with the No. 11 overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft and so far he looks the part. It all comes, of course, just months after Lendeborg helped lead Michigan to the national championship at the college level. He did so while averaging 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals per game. Yaxel Lendeborg initially began his college career at UAB. He spent two seasons there, averaging a double-double in each season before eventually transferring to Michigan.
