Former Marineland beluga whale dies at California theme park

The death of a beluga whale at a California theme park highlights the ongoing issues surrounding the relocation of marine animals from troubled facilities. This beluga was one of several rescued from the now-closed Marineland in Ontario, and its passing underscores the challenges these animals face when moved to new environments. This incident serves as a reminder of the broader ethical and welfare concerns in the captive marine animal trade, emphasizing the need for better care standards and more rigorous assessments for relocated marine life.
