Despite no explicit reference to Corinthians in the lyrics of the song, one of Depay’s lines is: “I know a vice-president who is now my enemy.” It comes after the 32-year-old took a pay-cut to stay at the club just a week after being released. He previously slammed the club for “unacceptable behaviour” and threatened to take action, after a supposedly agreed extension was withdrawn. However, the Netherlands international put an end to the saga by penning a new contract with the Sao Paulo outfit until 2028. And Corinthians president Osmar Stabile confirmed the ex-Manchester United player “significantly” reduced his financial demands.
