The Italy international was slapped with a ten-month ban following a betting breach investigation soon after arriving on Tyneside. But with the support of the Toon Army, he was back on the pitch – helping to end the side’s 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy. And the black and white dreams came true last year, when Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Carabao Cup final.
