Former Georgia first-round picks on defensive line raking it in with new NFL deals

It’s been a lucrative summer for a handful of former Georgia defensive linemen now plying their trade in the NFL. And for Bulldogs defensive line coach Tray Scott, it’s ammunition for the recruiting chamber aplenty. According to Spotrac.com, the four Georgia defensive linemen who were taken in the first round of the 2022 and 2023 NFL Drafts have now inked deals this summer worth more than a quarter billion guaranteed. In total, contract extensions have netted the four former first-rounders $265.4 million. He was the No. 9 overall pick in 2023. Not terribly far behind is the former No. 1 overall pick in 2022, Jacksonville Jaguars star Travon Walker. Walker netted a four-year, $110.0 million contract worth $75.0 million guaranteed. Next in line is Jordan Davis, another Eagles draft pick out of Georgia (No. 13 overall in 2022). He earned a three-year deal worth $78.0 million, including $64.4 million guaranteed. Finally, Devonte Wyatt wraps up the group. He was the No. 28 overall selection in 2022 by the Green Bay Packers. All four were on the 2021 national championship team for the Bulldogs, while Carter won national titles in both 2021 and 2022. Carter and Davis have since captured a Super Bowl ring with the Eagles. And Carter is well on his way to becoming one of the most feared defensive linemen in the league. The former Georgia star has now earned back-to-back Pro Bowl nods and was a second-team All-Pro in 2024. So far, he’s the only one to earn Pro Bowl recognition. But Davis did find himself on the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2022. Since they have entered the league, the former Georgia stars have been extremely productive. They’ve accounted for a combined 571 tackles, 65.0 sacks, nine forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries.
