Former Cal Men’s Basketball G Matt Bradley promoted to Director of Player Development

Golden Bear Report BasketballCal Men's Basketball G turned staffer Matt BradleyLate this afternoon, Cal Men’s Basketball Head Coach Mark Madsen and the program announced the promotion of Matt Bradley, the former Golden Bear guard who was most recently in a stint as a graduate assistant. Bradley’s new title is the “Director of Player Development”, where former all Pac-12 guard will be more hands on when it comes to overseeing the improvement of Cal Men’s Basketball.“I’m excited to be back at Cal and to work with student-athletes who were once in my shoes,” said Bradley in a team release. “I’m dedicated to helping prepare our players to compete and win under Coach Madsen, while working closely with the staff to support the program in every way possible.”Bradley was an aforementioned graduate assistant for Cal last season, where he worked on the scout team as the team looked to make strides under Madsen and company. Cal ended up with its most wins since its last March Madness team in the 2015-16 season and Bradley played a supplemental role in it.“Our players have great respect for Matt as a leader with an outstanding basketball IQ,” said Madsen. “His work ethic and love of the game shows in all that he does, and he has also been a winner as a player. He will play a key role in the growth of our Bears.”As a player, Matt Bradley scored over 1,000 points in three seasons, earning All-Pac-12 Second Team twice over the course of his first stint at Haas Pavilion. He finished his college playing career with the San Diego State Aztecs, where he was all Mountain West and made a big run to the NCAA Tournament championship game against UConn, getting to the biggest stage of March Madness.
