A Delhi court on Saturday (October 10, 2026) convicted former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Tahir Hussain of abetment to rioting in a case related to the northeast Delhi riots in 2020. The court acquitted the 12 other accused of all charges.Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Singh of a Karkardooma court held Tahir Hussain guilty of rioting and abetment. Hussain has been discharged of several offences, including damage to property, arson, and criminal conspiracy.The hearing for the sentencing will take place on November 16, 2026. Mr. Ali claimed to have faced losses of ₹27-28 lakh, including stolen goods, and damage to property.Another complainant, Mohd Zahid, alleged that members of the rioting mob had raised slogans in support of the former AAP councillor.Hussain and four others were convicted in July in a case pertaining to the murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Ankit Sharma during the riots.
