Forgotten Premier League star, 30, still without a club five years after winning title in historic unbeaten season

FORMER Premier League ace Joe Aribo is without a club at the age of 30. After a loan spell with Leicester last season, Aribo was released by Southampton but has yet to find a new team following the conclusion of the summer transfer window three weeks ago. The Glasgow giants became the only team to win the title with six games to spare after ending rivals Celtic‘s nine-year dominance. The Nigerian also shone bright the following season as he scored for Rangers in the 2022 Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt, who won on penalties. The versatile midfielder’s impressive appearances in Scotland led to a move to the Premier League that same year with Southampton paying a fee worth £6million, that had the potential of rising to £10m. The No8 featured only seven times for Southampton during the first half of the 2025/26 campaign. Aribo then joined Leicester on loan last February but only played six matches as the 2015 Premier League champions dropped to League One. And so the once bright midfielder – who amassed 26 goals and 25 assists in 149 appearances with Rangers and had suitors across the Prem and Europe – has found himself out of the fold. Comment now
