Everton released the following statement: “Academy graduate Tom Davies has taken up an offer by Everton to train with the Blues’ Under-21s while he looks for a new club. “The 28-year-old midfielder is a free agent after leaving Sheffield United at the end of last season and was keen to use his experience to support the Under-21s while building fitness for the 2026/27 campaign.” Davies joined Everton‘s academy in 2009 at the tender age of 11 and spent six years within the club’s youth ranks. That led to the central midfielder’s senior debut in 2016 when he was only 17. And the boyhood Blue made history in a 2018 Carabao Cup tie as he became the youngest captain in Everton’s history. Davies was only 20 years and 60 days old when he wore the esteemed armband. Davies amassed a total of seven goals and eight assists in 179 appearances before his departure in 2023.
