They make their travel plans according to what their birth chart readings say.According to a recent survey by Booking.com, about 22 per cent of Indian travellers have packed their bags because their astrologer said it was an auspicious time to travel.And, believe it or not, consulting an astrologer for travel plans is actually a thing. It’s called astrocartography. The practice maps your birth chart onto a world map to show how different geographic locations influence your life. Consider it a cosmic way of asking: Where should I go next?Travelling with your starsIn simple terms, astrocartography takes your birth chart — based on the date, time and place you were born — and projects it onto a world map. This creates different planetary lines running across different places — and each line is believed to influence a different part of your life. The resulting map is then read as a kind of cosmic travel guide, highlighting places associated with romance, ambition, good fortune or personal transformation. For example, if someone's Venus line runs through Greece, an astrocartographer might tell you that the city could be a good place for love, relationships or simply enjoying the finer things in life.In fact, it’s not limited to choosing holiday destinations. In the West, some people also use astrocartography to consider relocating for work, finding a new home or even starting life afresh. This is a rather very niche brand of astrology. Earlier, it was once largely confined to astrology circles but today is increasingly being used by travellers. No wonder National Geographic also recently reported it as a new travel trend.Part of the appeal is that travel has changed. For many people, a holiday is no longer just about ticking off landmarks. There is growing interest in trips that feel personal — wellness retreats, spiritual journeys, solo travel, digital-nomad stints and those slightly dramatic “I need to find myself” getaways.And this travel-and-astrology mix fits right into that mood.Of course, none of this means a plane ticket to a particular city guarantees love, money or a personality transformation.
