Sign in to your ScreenRant account As Aaron Sorkin's The Social Reckoning hits theaters, another one of his films, starring Kiefer Sutherland, is finding huge success on the streaming charts. The actor's most prominent role came in Fox's long-running thriller 24. Sutherland has also appeared in movies like Stand by Me, Young Guns, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, A Time to Kill and The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, with the latter scoring rave reviews when it was released in 2023 and earning him a Critics' Choice Award nomination. But that's not the only courtroom drama Sutherland has starred in. Just over three decades earlier, he played First Lieutenant Jonathan James Kendrick in Rob Reiner-directed A Few Good Men, written by Sorkin and based on his own 1989 play. Two U.S. Marines find themselves being court-martialed amid shocking murder accusations, with Kendrick being called into court to testify. Sutherland's co-stars include Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore and Kevin Bacon. A Few Good Men Is Telling Its Truth In HBO Max's Top 10 It's been 34 years since the legal drama hit theaters and grossed $243 million at the box office, but A Few Good Men is still a hit. The film is currently No. 7 on HBO Max's Top 10 movies chart in the United States, behind Backrooms, Evil Dead Burn, Coraline, Corpse Bride, The Departed and Supergirl. Scooby-Doo, A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Shining round out the rest of the Top 10. Aside from being a box office hit in the early '90s and spawning iconic quotes like "You can't handle the truth!" A Few Good Men earned four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Nicholson), Best Film Editing and Best Sound, and is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a critic score of 85%. Sorkin has a new film in theaters, The Social Network sequel The Social Reckoning, which could explain why A Few Good Men is performing so well right now on HBO Max's streaming chart. The Courtroom Classic Is About To Find New Life A Few Good Men, considered one of the greatest courtroom crime movies of all time, is a hit on HBO Max, but it's also seeing a resurgence in New York City with the Broadway revival of Sorkin's original play. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes' Tom Blyth and The West Wing's Bradley Whitford step into Cruise and Nicholson's roles in this new production. John Zdrojeski plays Sutherland's character. The stage revival is currently in previews at the Lincoln Center Theater, with opening night set for October 29. Since Broadway isn't the most accessible form of entertainment, audiences who want to watch A Few Good Men can stream Reiner and Sorkin's movie adaptation on HBO Max.
