Published Oct 23, 2026, 3:17 PM EDT Jeff Dodge (he/him), a published author and graduate of Western Washington University, has been a TV news editor for many years and has had the chance to interview multiple reality show stars, including Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mel B and John Cena. Fun Fact: he’s been to every single Idol Live! Tour. Billy Bob Thornton will be back as Tommy Norris on Landman, but before the neo-Western returns, the award-winning actor can be seen very soon in another project that sees him playing a loud-mouthed character. Landman was co-created by Taylor Sheridan and premiered in 2025 to largely positive reviews and nominations at the Golden Globes and Actor Awards. Thornton has played other sharp-tongued and brash characters over the years, including in Tombstone, Primary Colors and Bad News Bears. He also starred in Bad Santa and Bad Santa 2 as Willie T. Soke, a loud-mouthed alcoholic thief who goes on a robbing spree after landing a job as Santa at a department store with his assistant, Marcus Skidmore. The first film came out in 2003 and grossed $76.5 million (with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 78%), while the 2016 sequel underwhelmed with a box office total of $24 million and was widely panned by critics (who gave it a 23%). Thornton's Bad Santa Franchise Is Coming Back To Streaming Starting November 1, both Bad Santa and Bad Santa 2 will be available to stream on Paramount+; neither one is currently streaming on any platform in the United States. Thornton's co-stars in the holiday-themed franchise include Lauren Graham, John Ritter, Bernie Mac, Alex Borstein, Billy Gardell, Octavia Spencer, Cloris Leachman, Kathy Bates and Christina Hendricks. Up to this point in his career, Thornton had already won an Oscar for writing the screenplay for Sling Blade, and was nominated for his role in that film as well as A Simple Plan. Several other movies are coming to Paramount+ on November 1 as well, including 13 Going on 30, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Charlotte’s Web, Dreamgirls, Ernest Saves Christmas, Flags of Our Fathers, Footloose, Happy Feet, Harriet the Spy, Hook, Hugo, The Hunt for Red October, The Outsiders and Twister. Paramount+ will also release the Yellowjackets season 4 premiere and the MobLand season 2 finale on November 20. The Movies' Return Comes At The Perfect Time Bad Santa and Bad Santa 2 being added to Paramount+ comes at the perfect time for multiple reasons. The holiday season is approaching, and subscribers will be looking for holiday-themed movies and shows to watch in the coming weeks. Paramount+ is filling its platform with many such films next month, not just Bad Santa and Bad Santa 2. They're also adding A Christmas Proposal, All I Want For Christmas, Christmas Takes Flight, Ernest Saves Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life, Scrooged, Trading Places and many more. Plus, production on Landman season 3 is currently underway, so there's a lot of interest in Thornton right now. Fans of the actor might want to seek out his other roles, especially when it's a loud-mouthed character like Bad Santa's Willie T. Soke, who shares a lot of similarities to Landman's Tommy Norris in both behavior and personality.
