Forget From, ABC’s 3-Part Mystery Horror Classic Is Quickly Climbing Streaming Charts

From season 5 will mark the end of the supernatural horror and all of its mysteries. But with no specific release date announced, a classic and superior show may help to fill the void. Created by Mark Frost and David Lynch, Twin Peaks' premiere in 1990 on ABC carved the way for a legacy that extends well beyond the mystery of Laura Palmer’s murder. Even after two seasons, a follow-up film, and a 2017 revival that welcomed stars like Amanda Seyfried, Laura Dern, and Ashley Judd, its lasting legacy, perhaps, is the influence that it has on helping to mature television as a medium and open a pathway for daring dramas like it. Twin Peaks Is Officially One Of The Biggest Shows On Streaming Twin Peaks has enjoyed a return to the Apple TV Store charts this week. In Canada, the cult favorite ABC drama popped up at #19 on September 22 before rising to #15 two days later. Although it has charted since then, it could presumably still pop up once again before the month draws to a close. The streaming revival is more apparent, though, in the U.S., where it debuted at #19 on Apple TV Store's charts on September 23. It then continued the climb to #10 the next day, before reaching its highest ranking of #5 on September 25. Although it has eased somewhat as of September 26, slipping to #6, it displays no signs of an immediate drop-off from the charts. There is no clear reason why the series is trending now, though Twin Peaks' legacy is a likely factor. Will The Mystery Series Ever Return? Image via MovieStillsDB Even though Lynch and Frost both expressed interest in doing another installment of Twin Peaks, there were some roadblocks in the fact that it took so long for the show's 2010s return to get going. Lynch would continue to occasionally express interest in the world he helped to create. But as the years passed and a new decade began, there wasn't much in the way of development on new episodes. Taking into account that Lynch sadly died in January 2025, it's hard to imagine that Twin Peaks would make its way back to audiences, and definitely not in the way that the duo of Lynch and Frost imagined it. But it is heartening to see that, even decades later, the cleverly unsettling town that viewers were first introduced to in the early 1990s is capturing attention. That much is made clear by its high ranking on the Apple TV Store charts. Twin Peaks is at least partly responsible for genre dramas like Lost and From succeeding on the small screen. That is only one component of a legacy that shouldn't be tinkered with by a reboot, but it is a legacy that absolutely deserves to live on and get rediscovered by generations of devotees.
