Ford’s Fathom EV pickup spotted again ahead of its upcoming debut

Ford’s next electric pickup will start at around $30,000 when it goes on sale in early 2027. As its official debut draws closer, a disguised Fathom prototype popped up outside of Ford’s World Headquarters. Ford Fathom EV pickup spotted, this time in Dearborn Although we haven’t seen it in full yet, Ford’s Fathom is already making a name for itself. As the first model based on its new Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform, Ford promises the Fathom will be a step change from its previous-generation EVs. Ford will open preorders for the Fathom in early 2027 with a starting MSRP of $28,350 for the standard-range version. With the $1,595 delivery fee, prices still start at under $30,000. While that’s about half the cost of the F-150 Lightning, Ford’s first electric truck, the company says the price is the least interesting part. We got our first look at the Fathom in June after a prototype was captured driving around in Long Beach. Last month, CEO Jim Farley revealed several images of camouflaged prototypes on the streets of Las Vegas in what appeared to be a photo shoot. The latest image comes from Emily Gabler, Ford’s tech communication leader. Gabler posted an image of a covered Fathom outside of Ford’s World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. @Ford Fathom spotted on campus today in Dearborn. https://t.co/sD6hjspUpp— Emily Gabler (@chargedupemily) October 15, 2026 As we’ve seen in other images, the Fathom features a decent-sized sensor smack in the center up front to support driver-assist features. Ford said the Fathom will be the first vehicle with Apple Maps directly integrated into the navigation system. All models will be BlueCruise-capable for hands-free driving. Other standard features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus bidirectional charging capabilities. The midsize electric pickup will offer more interior space than a Toyota RAV4, and that’s not including the frunk (front trunk) or truck bed. Ford also said the Fathom will cost less to own over five years than a three-year-old used Tesla Model Y. While it has revealed a few details, Ford has yet to announce the battery size, driving range, and other key specs. One thing we do know is that the Fathom will have an NACS port after a prototype was caught at a Tesla Supercharger over the summer. Preorders will officially open in early 2027, with the first customer deliveries expected to begin by the end of next year. When asked if we will see the Fathom in full in 2026 or 2027, Gabler said, “Keep an eye out for early next year.” FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links. More.
