See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source Published: 06:27 EDT, 12 August 2026 | Updated: 06:31 EDT, 12 August 2026 A footballer who filmed himself driving at 191mph on a motorway and posted a video on social media has been jailed for four years.Conor Charlton, a semi-professional footballer who plays for Nostell Miners Welfare in the Northern Counties East League, has also received a four-year and seven-month driving ban after he crashed his £90,000 BMW in September 2023.West Yorkshire Police were first alerted to Charlton's dangerous driving after he posted a series of videos online.Cruising down a busy motorway, Charlton could be seen driving at 191mph in the West Yorkshire area.In another clip, he could be seen drifting his BMW X3M around a roundabout where he narrowly misses a collision with a van.Charlton filmed himself in a third video weaving in and out of traffic at a top speed of 160mph with the caption 'wow'.He was arrested in November 2023 and it was only then that the true extent of his crimes were discovered. After police took his car it was found that it had recorded speeds of over 107mph eight times in a year. In it he claimed that it was another driver's fault who fled the scene.Appearing at Leeds Crown Court, Charlton admitted 10 counts of dangerous driving and four offences of perverting the course of justice.The court heard that the striker had two previous convictions unrelated to driving, including being found guilty of Actual Bodily Harm in 2019 after punching a man during a five-a-side match in Wakefield.
