A GOALKEEPER went into an apoplectic meltdown by throwing a bin and a chair down the tunnel after shoving the referee. Mexican side Tigres faced Vancouver Whitecaps in the Leagues Cup on Tuesday night. He ran upfield with the ball in hand to take a quick free-kick on the centre line. But as the referee blew his whistle to prevent him getting on with it, Guzman, 40, had a rush of blood to the head. And the Argentine pushed the referee out of the way and kicked the ball forwards. However, World Cup ref Ivan Barton was not having it and immediately brandished a second yellow card then the red, leaving the goalkeeper gobsmacked. The referee was not going to change his mind, though, and ordered Guzman off the pitch. But when he eventually left, the raging goalkeeper went ballistic. And in one final outburst, he hurled the chair down into the ground – obliterating it into pieces and shattering the legs. Tigres substitute goalkeeper Carlos Felipe Rodriguez came on after the red card – before his side won the penalty shootout after the game finished 1-1. Unsurprisingly, the chaotic Guzman incident went wild on social media. One user said: “Nahuel throwing spoiled brat tantrums.” Another wrote: “His attitude is frightening.” And a third added: “Tigres must give him an exemplary punishment; letting his reprehensible actions go unpunished will do a lot of damage to the club.
