Football Wag had to move out of home after ONE NIGHT as she reveals what life in transfer window is really like

FOOTBALL Wag Jessica Beaumont has revealed the brutal reality of life in the transfer window – including moving out of her dream home after just ONE night. Jessica and footballer partner Owen Dale had only just bought their first house together when he was sent on loan more than 200 miles away to Portsmouth. Talking to BBC Sport, she explained: “Owen was on the phone to the manager and his agent while I was in labour. They waited for me to give birth and then he went out on loan pretty much as soon as I was out of hospital.” Sign up for the Football newsletter Thank you! The couple spent just one night in their new home before deciding the 10-hour round trip for Dale to see his newborn son was impossible. “We spent one night in there, we hadn’t even unpacked.” Jessica was forced to quit her job and put her law career on hold, while Dale chose their new Portsmouth home after viewing properties without her. She continued: “I had Owen on the phone basically saying, ‘I’ve done a couple of house viewings. I’ve chosen this one. This is where we’re going to be living’ and showing me on FaceTime.” “In that moment I did feel really out of control.” Jessica met Dale when he was playing for Crewe and admits she never expected football to dictate where they lived, saying: “I didn’t get together with him because he was a footballer so I never considered the footballer life – that he might just have to move at the last minute.” Most read in Sport CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS The couple share a romantic kiss on the beach during a holiday away from the pressures of the football season Credit: Instagram / jessicabeaumont1 “Since living together, we’ve moved five times in five years. You have to be prepared for anything in the transfer window. But it’s also a really fortunate position to be in at a young age.” Dale, now 27 and a free agent after spending last season at Plymouth, has made much of his career in League One, with moves often coming late in transfer windows. Jessica now works from home in social media and shares her experiences on TikTok, but insists Dale’s career has to come first. She said: “My career can be picked up at any time, whereas his career is right now and you’ve really got to take every opportunity.” “As much as people say it’s a glamorous lifestyle you do make sacrifices so your partner can have their dream and get themselves as far as they can in football. “People also put League One players in the same bracket as Premier League players.” “In the Premier League they’re often set up for life, we can’t live in that way because we have to prepare for life after football.” With four-year-old Xavier and two-month-old Etta now in the equation, stability is becoming another major concern. She said: “We’ve said to Xavier that we might be moving soon and when we do we’re going to get his bike back out of storage. “That way he knows that moving is a possibility and hopefully he’s not thinking about what he’s going to lose but what he’s going to gain. “The main thing for me personally – and what I’ve learned first hand – is the importance of keeping your own identity outside of football. “If you can get a hobby, a routine or even a work-from-home job, that can help – things that can move with you.” Despite all the upheaval, she insisted: “We’ve lived in places that we never would have lived in. And that’s exciting for a relationship. “You know, with some relationships you can get bored. In football, you don’t get bored!” Comment now
