File | Photo Credit: The Hindu Regional airline FLY91 today signed a firm order for 40 70-seater ATR 72-600 aircraft, marking the largest ATR order globally by any regional airline.The deal is valued at approximately $1 billion though airline customers negotiate discounts on listed price.The airline will lease another six to eight aircraft before the new aircraft begin arriving. No definite timeline was shared on the induction of 40 aircraft.For the Franco-Italian aircraft manufacturer, a big Indian order comes nine years after IndiGo ordered 50 ATRs in 2017.The airline that launched in early 2024 operates 280 weekly flights to 12 destination. It connects Pune, Sindhudurg, Solapur and Jalgaon in Maharashtra; Agatti in the Lakshadweep Islands; Hubballi in Karnataka; Tirupati, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh; along with Bengaluru, Goa, Kochi and Hyderabad.
