In a shocking incident, a 60-year-old man lost both his legs after he was trapped between the railway platform and a coach of the Rameswaram–Tiruchi passenger train at Sivaganga railway station on Thursday.Railway police said Palani, 60, of Krishnarajapuram, a flower vendor, had boarded the train at Manamadurai and was travelling to Tiruchi to visit his daughter.He reportedly alighted from the train when it reached Sivaganga railway station. When the train started at around 5.10 p.m., Palani allegedly attempted to board the moving train but fell and got trapped under the wheels.The train was immediately stopped and Palani was rescued with the help of Fire and Rescue Services personnel. He was rushed to the Government Hospital for treatment.The train was detained for nearly 60 minutes before it left the station.Police sources said Palani had reportedly sold flowers in a few coaches and attempted to board the train after it started moving.
