Flood watch continues as thunderstorms soak northeast Ohio on Sunday

There will be patchy sun here and there for some in Northeast Ohio, though rain is most certainly the call of the day. A flood watch and beach hazard statements, which were engaged last night, are still in effect for much of Northeast Ohio.If you’re heading out on Sunday, expect damp roads, scattered showers and pockets of moderate to heavy rain lingering from overnight. Temperatures will hang in the 70-degree territory, with light winds—but the high humidity will make it feel warmer than the thermometer suggests. Rainfall may be steady at times, and some neighborhoods could pick up more than an inch before the day is over.National Weather Service continues to highlight the potential for localized flooding, especially in low-lying and poor-drainage areas where repeated downpours occur.The atmosphere will remain unstable enough for additional thunderstorms to develop. While widespread severe weather isn’t expected, any stronger storm could produce torrential rainfall, gusty winds and frequent lightning.If you have outdoor plans — whether it’s a picnic, the Guards-Diamondbacks matinee or time on Lake Erie — keep a close eye on the radar and have a backup plan.Sunday evening gradually trends quieter, though scattered showers may linger into the night before tapering off. By daybreak Monday, cooler northerly winds will begin filtering into the region.Clouds should slowly break through the morning, setting the stage for a noticeably more comfortable afternoon with lower humidity and temperatures around 80.
