Flasher neighbour performed sex acts in front of widow and fondled bras on her washing line for over 10 years

Margaret Day was proud of her garden and always enjoyed sitting out in it. But her tranquil retreat was ruined by a ten-year campaign by an elderly neighbour who was caught fondling her bras on her washing line. Robert May, 73, also performed lewd acts while standing naked in his window and bombarded her with disgusting text messages. He has now pleaded guilty to an act of outraging public decency after Mrs Day's daughter Sue Mason-Day installed a camera at her housing complex in Worcestershire. May will be sentenced at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court later this month. Mrs Mason-Day, 54, said her mother had endured 'years of hell' which started when her father Brian was still alive and continued after his death. She told how he would send text messages saying 'show me your breasts' before it escalated to him touching himself naked in his flat window in plain view.Sue, who has waived her right to anonymity alongside her mother, said: 'It's been going on for 11 years now.'It started with text messages when my dad Brian was still alive.'My mum had asked Rob to look after their birds when they went on holiday, and she received a message in response saying yes but only if he could look at her breasts.'The message from May read: 'When Brian goes to the pub, let me know I'm coming over to see your breasts'.He then added: 'I do things for you, so you should let me see your breasts.' Ms Mason-Day, decided to install a ring doorbell at her mother's property, which captured Rob May going into her garden and putting his fingers on her bras. She persistently asked him to stop as it wasn't funny.'My mum wasn't sure about telling my dad - she was worried he would have an angina attack or even a full-on heart attack again - but she eventually did.'My dad ended up confronting Rob and told him we'd report it to the police if he didn't stop.'From that day the friendship was over for everyone.'After Margaret's husband Brian died in December 2014, May asked to attend the funeral, which the family refused.Sue added: 'My mum told him he was not welcome there.'Even after my dad died he continued to message her. One message sent after she put the bins out for collection read 'I would have put the bin out, but you know what I want to see.''Margaret later received Valentine's cards from an unknown sender.She said the card made her feel 'uneasy.' Mrs Mason Day said: 'I remember looking at the footage and it shows Rob going into her garden and putting his fingers on her bras.'He gained access by the rear garden via the closed gate.'Some of the clothing drying was my mum's underwear including two bras. Once he got to the clothing he has then reached out with his left arm and touched both of the bras. He seemed to be rubbing the inside of the cup areas.'The incident was reported to police and May was given words of advice. However, she said the situation worsened in July 2025.She said: 'Last year, my mum told me she thought Rob had got a doll in his window.'A few days later, she realised it was Rob standing in his window naked.'She said one morning while making a cup of tea she could see see him and it frightened her as he had been close enough to be able to look directly into the kitchen.'I wasn't sure at first, but in July 2025, we decided we would try and get it on camera.'To gather evidence, Sue and her husband hid in the back of her mother's car while Margaret followed her usual routine.She added: 'At the time my mum went out in the car, we watched Rob remove the net curtains and we started the video recording.'It showed him completely naked, masturbating in his flat window.'He tried to deny it when we reported it to police, and said he was rubbing in deep heat.'May initially pleaded not guilty to the offence but later changed his plea on September 15.Sue said: 'It has been 11 years of hell for my mum.'Rob was friends with my mum and dad. They would bring over meals for him as he was on his own. They felt sorry for him.'My mum was always proud of her garden, but now she can't even sit out in it. It has been going on for too long.'
